Personality:
When our Wicked Warlock is introduced, it isn't too hard to figure out why the fantastical world of Oz accepted the title. Warrick is an arrogant man that has shut out the rest of the world and its troubles so he can focus on his own projects. He believes himself important enough that even when the goals are the same, he has a hard time working with others or even budging enough to listen to them. Threatening them -- or just scheming to himself -- is just so much easier.

Of course, that's our Wicked Warlock. It turns out that a big part of the reason he acts the way he does is that he had given up his heart in a pledge to Ozma, the beloved ruler of Oz. Distanced from his heart, all of his negative traits are exacerbated, and more intrusive thoughts worm their way in. In reality, Warrick is a quiet book nerd that loves dogs and socks with star patterns on them. He became heartless out of a pure, if misguided, form of love.

Ozma entered his life at a formative time, and her persona was one of perfection. His mother was forced to be distant with him because of her heart being literally broken by what was assumed to be the actions of his absent, thieving father, and though he was practically inseparable from his twin sister Selva and had the love of his maternal grandparents, having Ozma’s attention was something new and special. Even at that young age, Warrick showed signs of a bitterness and self-hatred that would only become more prominent as the years went on, but the hopefulness brought with his precocious crush helped to lessen that. This pattern is seen again with Emma when he’s grown up, once he begins to admit his feelings for her to himself.

He’s had a great deal of denial all through his life, creating a narrative for himself that he could deal with. He decided how things were and stuck to that, pretending to be more grown up than he was or even felt to help impress this reality onto those around him. When life slapped him in the face with deaths and disappearances, he was unprepared, which only served to make his worldview even more narrow and bitter. He starts to show signs of being terrified of being useless, another feature that becomes a core in his personality all through life. It was shortly after all this that, in an effort to save his life, he cast out his heart through magic and tried to do the same to his sister. He wanted to be around so he could continue aiding others, or at least not drag everyone else down by his imminent passing.

Even when he's grown up for real and gotten into close proximity of his heart, he isn't all sunshine and rainbows. The things he did while heartless weigh on him, but even heavier is the possibility that his attempts to be helpful to his family, friends, and Ozma have only served to hurt them more. It takes outside talks to improve his guilt and self-esteem enough to have an actual effect -- his scar from tearing his heart out starts to heal. Before that, he was more than ready to give up on himself and his gifts.

That urge to give up was an extreme reaction brought by the knowledge that his help specifically could actually be hurting. In other situations, Warrick is quick to try to correct situations and make good on promises and expectations. What helps with that is his ability to be observant and to judge a situation quickly -- of course, when he's heartless, he uses that to be...well, heartless. His magic is naturally inclined towards fixing things, but Ozma’s nurturing of that gift and his own personal drive keep him keeping on.

Having that eye on situations doesn't always help him, though. Frankly, Warrick can be dense as hell, and not only to become the comic’s butt of a joke. He winds up taking a lot of metaphorical wrong turns in life, which doesn't do much to aid his self worth. When relaxed with someone and close to his heart, this problem doesn't rear its ugly head as often. He can take a ribbing! But beneath the jokes and offhand remarks about being wicked, he truly believes himself to be lesser or damaged by his actions. Even though he is good friends with Emma and they make each other laugh, he finds it hard to believe that she could ever come to love someone like him, and he’s overwhelmed when he's proven wrong. Being told he’s reminiscent of his father didn't help that area of his life at all, really. Thanks, parents.

Inventory:
Witch’s cloak, though now it's double breasted.
Witch’s bag, connected to a room in her castle that Warrick can pull items from. It's just a purse now.
Party clothes!
Thin dagger.
Small, circular badge with the Calliope symbol for healers.

Abilities:
Mending - He can heal and shape bodies, even recreating half of a brain. Other mending abilities involve aiding someone’s mental health and building or repairing things. It’s inherited magic through his mother and was an ability originated by Ozma. His initial training was incomplete, but has been resumed.

Shield - A green, magical barrier. Up until recently, it was weak and unreliable, but training and a desire to protect those precious to him has strengthened it.

Flight - Thanks to the witch’s cloak, Warrick can fly around and float.

Heartless - A fun feature that lets him take a giant vine stabbed through his chest. He’s technically dying, but his healing spells are unconsciously cast on his body and keep him from being, you know, super dead. Water burns him, as does food to a lesser degree, but he only needs to eat every few days and can stay clean using magic. He is always cold because of it, too. The further he is from his heart, the more haywire his personality goes.

His mundane abilities have been cultivated by those around him, such as his abilities to draw and wield an axe stemming from being raised by his grandfather, the Tin Woodsman, and the fact that he can dance being attributed to Selva forcing this on him during their childhood.

Flaws:
Removed heart with a spell, unknowingly causing his slow death and cursing his sister. While distanced from his heart, he likes to kill things with fire and other wholesome acts of violence. Also he cooks up poison and threatens people with biting crows and blah blah blah, basically he was heartless har har. He’s literally taken the job of the Wicked Witch/Warlock of the West.
